Help VBF by Leaving a Legacy
Making a new Will
To make sure that your wishes are carried out, it is advisable to consult a solicitor. The solicitor will also be able to advise you on appointing executors and reducing your liability to inheritance tax.
If you were kind enough to leave a legacy to the Veterinary Benevolent Fund, any money left to the charity would be free of inheritance tax.
Updating your Will
Minor alterations such as leaving a bequest or a legacy to the Veterinary Benevolent Fund can be made by a codicil, which is a formal addition to your Will.
Do not change your Will by crossing parts out or adding words as this may invalidate it. If you want to change your Will, your solicitor will draw up the necessary codicil for you to sign or you can download a codicil form here.
Your Wishes
If you include an instruction in your Will or let your executors know your wishes, you might prefer that donations were made to the Veterinary Benevolent Fund in your memory rather than having flowers sent.
